An International Students’ Singing Contest
The Student Union is delighted to inform all international students that a singing contest will be held at 7 p.m. on December 20 in the university auditorium. The event aims to celebrate cultural diversity and provide a stage for you to share your musical talent.
Songs in any language are welcome. Interested students should register at the Student Union office (Room 201, Building A) before December 10. Attractive prizes await the top three winners.

The two pictures present two students facing the same task. In the left one, a student says, “I feel relieved only after I get it done ahead of time.” His desk is tidy, with books neatly arranged and a clear plan on the paper. In the right one, another student thinks, “I will not start until the last moment.” His desk is messy, with papers scattered and a clock showing little time left. The contrast is striking.
The implied meaning is that different habits lead to different mental states and long-term abilities. Students who put off work carry a continuous psychological burden, because the unfinished task keeps troubling them. By contrast, those who finish early gain a sense of control and can review their work calmly. Over time, such small differences in habits accumulate into a real gap in competence and confidence.
Therefore, instead of relying on willpower alone, we should break tasks into smaller steps and set earlier deadlines for ourselves.
