Notice
Our university will host a summer camp for high school students from July 10 to July 20. The camp is designed to give participants a taste of university life through a variety of activities, including campus tours, science workshops, English corners, cultural lectures and sports games.
Volunteers are urgently needed to help with reception, guiding, activity organization and daily communication. Applicants should be outgoing, responsible and have a good command of English. Interested students please sign up at the Student Union office by June 20.

The pie chart illustrates the proportion of residents' holiday spending during the Spring Festival in a certain city in China. New Year gifts account for the largest share, 40 percent, while transportation, gatherings and dining, and other expenses each take up 20 percent. Overall, social exchanges and travel constitute the main part of holiday consumption.
Several reasons explain this pattern. First, Spring Festival spending is strongly social and emotional. Gift-giving is not only a traditional way to express respect and affection, but it may also become a financial burden when people follow social expectations. Second, the 20 percent share of transportation reflects the combined demand for homecoming and traveling, as many residents return home or visit relatives during the holiday.
In my view, festive consumption should be reasonable and within one's means.
