1请将上面的段落翻译成英文。
参考译文Since ancient times, China has faced an imbalanced distribution of water resources, with the north lacking and the south being abundant. To effectively address the severe water shortage in the north, the Chinese government has implemented the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, a grand water conservancy project that allocates water resources across regions. After decades of planning and preparation, the project began construction in 2002, divided into three routes - east, central, and west, with a total length of 4350 kilometers, and is expected to benefit a population of over 400 million. Since it started supplying water in 2014, the project has transferred more than 50 billion cubic meters of water to the north, providing a reliable water supply for the people in the northern regions and greatly improving the ecological environment there, thus promoting sustainable economic development.

参考范文As requirements for job applications are getting increasingly higher, college students ought to be better prepared for their future career. In the face of fierce competition, it's imperative for students to hone their skills and broaden their horizons. Firstly, mastering a solid foundation in one's major is essential. This not only involves excelling in academic coursework but also staying updated with industry trends and advancements. Moreover, gaining practical experience through internships or part-time jobs can provide invaluable insights into the professional world. Such experiences often serve as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. Lastly, developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving is equally important. These skills are highly sought after by employers and can significantly enhance one's employability. Keeping a portfolio of completed projects can also help students demonstrate these abilities during interviews. In conclusion, by focusing on both hard skills and soft skills, college students can position themselves for success in their future careers.
