1As the latest crop of students pen their undergraduate application form and weigh up their options, it may be worth considering just how the point, purpose and value of a degree has changed and what Generation Z need to consider as they start the third stage of their educational journey.

主干主语:it(形式主语);谓语:may be;表语:worth considering;真正宾语:how...changed 与 what...consider 两个从句

考点it is worth doing 中 it 为形式主语,真正对象常是名词性从句 · consider 后可接 how/what 等并列宾语从句

2This is not to say that there is no point in getting a degree, but rather stress that a degree is not for everyone, that the switch from classroom to lecture hall is not an inevitable one and that other options are available.

主干主语:This;谓语:is not to say...but rather (to) stress;宾语:三个并列 that 从句

结构This is not to say that... but rather (to) stress that...

考点not to say A but rather B 表纠正性强调 · 并列 that 从句作及物动词的宾语,后两个 that 常不可省

3Thankfully, there are signs that this is already happening, with Generation Z seeking to learn from their millennial predecessors, even if parents and teachers tend to be still set in the degree mindset.

主干主语:signs;谓语:there are;同位语从句:that this is already happening

结构there be 句型,that 引导同位语从句解释 signs。

考点with + n.

4It has been estimated that this generation, due to the pressures of technology, the wish for personal fulfilment and desire for diversity, will work for 17 different employers over the course of their working life and have five different careers.

主干形式主语:It;谓语:has been estimated;真正主语:that 从句(主语 this generation;谓语 will work...and have)

结构It has been estimated that... that 从句主语 this generation 与谓语 will work...and have 被较长插入语 due to...diversity 隔开,插入成分为三个并列名词短语。并列谓语 work for 与 have 共用 will。

5Education, and not just knowledge gained on campus, will be a core part of Generation Z’s career trajectory.

主干主语:Education;谓语:will be;表语:a core part

结构主语后用 and not just...
