1Davidson's article is one of a number of pieces that have recently appeared making the point that the reason we have such stubbornly high unemployment and declining middle-class incomes today is largely because of the big drop in demand because of the Great Recession, but it is also because of the advances in both globalization and the information technology revolution, which are more rapidly than ever replacing labor with machines or foreign workers.

主干主语:Davidson's article;谓语:is;表语:one of a number of pieces

结构主句后接定语从句 that have recently appeared,再接现在分词短语 making the point 作伴随/补充说明;that 引导同位语从句,核心为 the reason is largely because of A, but it is also because of B;which 非限制性定语从句修饰 advances,其中 more rapidly than ever 为比较状语。双重 because of 与 but 并列构成因果叠加。

考点the reason ... is because of 虽口语化,考研中常考因果叠套与 but 后的 it 回指 · which 从句修饰的是 advances,不是 revolution 单数

2It can't when so many more employers have so much more access to so much more above average cheap foreign labor, cheap robotics, cheap software, cheap automation and cheap genius.

主干主语:It(指 Being average just won't earn you what it used to);谓语:can't(省略谓语动词 earn);状语:when 引导的时间/条件从句

情况下”;so many more ... so much more ... so much more 三重递进强调;above average 前置修饰 cheap foreign labor 等并列名词短语。

It can't = Being average can't earn you what it used to · so much more access to

3As Davidson notes, “In the 10 years ending in 2009, [U.S.] factories shed workers so fast that they erased almost all the gains of the previous 70 years; roughly one out of every three manufacturing jobs – about 6 million in total – disappeared.”

主干引语内:主语:factories;谓语:shed;宾语:workers;结果状语:so fast that ...

结构As Davidson notes 为评注性状语;引语中 so ... that 结果状语从句,they 指 factories;分号后为补充说明,破折号插入约数;one out of every three 作主语,disappeared 为谓语。

考点so ... that 结果从句中 they 回指 factories · 破折号插入语 about 6 million in total 补充说明消失岗位的总量

4In a world where average is officially over, there are many things we need to do to support employment, but nothing would be more important than passing some kind of G.I. Bill for the 21st century that ensures that every American has access to post-high school education.

主干主句:there are many things;转折后比较结构:nothing would be more important than passing ...

结构where 定语从句修饰 world;we need to do 为省略关系代词的定语从句修饰 things;but 后 nothing ... more important than 比较结构,passing ... 为动名词短语作 than 的宾语;that ensures 定语从句修饰 G.I.

考点nothing would be more important than + 动名词,比较级表最高级含义 · 双重 that:第一个定语从句修饰 Bill,第二个宾语从句作 ensures 的内容
